Ontario’s Ministry of Natural Resources is now just another arm of “Political protector for Green Energy developers”!!

EAGLE NEST POSTER-F 8.5x11

Talk about how to dismantle and reshape a Ministry that at one time was established to PROTECT and help “endangered species” literally survive in this industrialized world of unfettered development for development’s sake!

Here is the actual Ministry’s statement on endangered species and how they are supposed to act to protect them:

“Ontario’s Endangered Species Act provides some of the strongest protection in North America for endangered plants and animals. Species classed as endangered or threatened are automatically protected from harm and their general habitats from damage or destruction. Once this protection is in place, focus turns to developing longer-term protection and species recovery plans.”

Now read the latest move by the MNR (now a political body, not scientific) that is in direct conflict with the above statement.

MNR makes *NEW* rule: destroy bird nests if you are a wind company – I’m not kidding

MNR New Rule: Remove Bird Nest and Eggs
Ontario’s Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act protects the eggs and nests of most wild bird species, with the exception of American crow, brown-headed cowbird, common grackle, house sparrow, red-winged blackbird, or starling. This includes both active (in use) nests and inactive (not in use) nests of species that tend to return to the same nest year after year.

Effective July 1, 2013, the following do not need approval from MNR to destroy or remove a nest or eggs:

1. A person carrying out a renewable energy project with the required renewable energy approval under the Environmental Protection Act.

2. A person conducting maintenance on an electricity transmission or distribution line or on a telecommunications line or broadcast tower in cases where the nest or eggs create a risk to the function of the line or tower.

3. A forest operation in accordance with an approved forest management plan. Any other disturbance or removal of nests and eggs requires authorization from MNR. Read more

You may be aware of the governments removal of Navigable Water Act from Trout Lake (North Bay) and several large river systems in northern ontario, being the Mattawa, South River, Magnetawan and Pickerel Rivers. The natives have received miles and miles of private and crown land in a recent settlement and they already have major plans for Trout Lake(where North Bay gets their drinking water) and the Mattawa River. Their next land grab will be the other rivers I mentioned. Thousands live along these river systems and have for a century or more. Last spring a solar panel company, striped the land caused tons of silt to flow into the Magnetawan River, with these restrictions taken off any company or reserve can do whatever they want with these rivers. If you want copies of these articles let me know your e-mail and I will send them.
