James Delingpole, an activist and truly informed honest man who knows the difference between propaganda and true agendas regarding the Green Energy Scam let loose on the world by very unscrupulous and evil people who want to nothing more than to de-industrialize the modern world and reduce it to a Third World status for their own gains, has done what every man and woman who cares about an honourable society, should do!

Ghosh, why on earth did they give me this job?” (photos: PA)

Dear Dame Helen Ghosh,

Congratulations on your appointment as £160,000 a year director-general of the National Trust. At the weekend you celebrated by giving an interview in which you declared that “a wind turbine in the right place is a rather beautiful thing” and “The National Trust, as an organisation, takes the view that in the right place – and because of the importance of renewable energy – we don’t object to them.”

In these opinions, I believe, you are woefully out of touch with your membership. Last night, after I read what you’d said, I cancelled the £90 standing order for family membership which I have been paying to the National Trust for the last twenty or more years. I hope that many other members will be doing likewise. Please allow me to explain in more detail why I’ve resigned our membership and why I think you are entirely the wrong person for the job.

1. The National Trust is a conservation body. People tend to join – I certainly did – because they have a strong affinity with the British landscape and with our historic buildings heritage. Of course, as a private individual you are perfectly entitled to your views on wind turbines. But to state them in your capacity as director-general of the National Trust is wantonly insensitive, crass and provocative – the rough equivalent of the new head of the  Board of Deputies of British Jews declaring himself a fan of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, or the head of the Vegetarian Society enthusing about nice juicy horse burgers. The fact that you can’t see this speaks volumes about your inadequacy for the job.
